In June, CSC received one of the most significant medical equipment donations yet for the Cuba Vive Appeal – a consignment of life-saving cardiac equipment worth more than £2 million.
The donation was generously provided by the Arrhythmia Alliance, a coalition of charities, patient groups and healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the diagnosis, treatment and quality of life of people living with heart rhythm disorders.
The shipment includes around 200 pacemakers and ICD leads, with an estimated value of £300,000, including advanced single and dual-chamber, MRI-compatible devices. It also contains hundreds of electrophysiology catheters and guidewires, hundreds of coronary stents, and a wide range of other specialist cardiac equipment.
The equipment is now being prepared for shipment to Cuba, where it will be delivered to the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery in Havana, helping provide vital treatment for patients at a time when the US blockade continues to restrict Cubaʼs access to essential medical supplies.
