On 29 January 2026, Donald Trump signed a new executive order authorising tariffs on any country supplying oil to Cuba. This escalation threatens to deepen Cuba’s already severe shortages and push the country further into humanitarian crisis – particularly in energy and food supply.
In response, Cuba Vive has launched an Emergency Food Appeal to send urgently needed food aid to the island.
April 2026
Three containers of emergency food aid (74 metric tonnes) are due to arrive in April.
-26 metric tonnes of rice shipped from Brazil
-24 metric tonnes of rice and lentils shipped from the UK
-24 metric tonnes of black beans shipped from Argentina
This emergency effort builds on the six consignments of medical and hurricane relief aid delivered through the Cuba Vive appeal during 2025.
Help us keep the containers moving
At this critical moment, practical solidarity matters. Every donation helps us purchase essential food and get it shipped as quickly as possible.
