After just ten months of fundraising the Cuba Vive medical aid appeal has raised more than £129,000 and is on course to match the £150,000 that CSC supporters raised for emergency aid during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cuba Solidarity Campaign is incredibly grateful to all our members, local groups, trade union affiliates and supporters who have contributed to the appeal and helped raise awareness by sharing the appeal resources.
Thanks to your support, we are now sourcing medical equipment, supplies and medicines, and the first two shipments of life-saving aid are scheduled to be on their way to Cuba before the end of this year, with more to follow in 2025.
Bulk medical supplies
As the first container is due to be sent shortly, we are also appealing for bulk items of medical aid large or small. Please get in contact if you have access to any medicines, supplies or equipment which you think would be suitable. You can find a list of the items and medicines requested here. Although we don’t have storage space in the CSC office, if you can deliver items to the port we can arrange storage until they are packed on the container. Please contact CSC on office@cuba-solidarity.org.uk or call 020 7490 5715.
The need is now greater than ever. Back-to-back hurricanes, nationwide power cuts, and the election of Donald Trump for a second presidential term have caused, and will cause, the Cuban people unprecedented suffering and exacerbate existing shortages.
Your donation has helped to provide medical aid that will save lives, but we know our support is a drop in the ocean compared to what is needed, and we must continue to fight to end the US blockade and to remove Cuba from the US ‘State Sponsors of Terrorism’ list.
The Cuba Solidarity Campaign is incredibly grateful to all our members, local groups, trade union affiliates and supporters who have contributed to the Cuba Vive appeal and helped raise awareness by sharing information. If you are able to help raise awareness by sharing details of the appeal with someone who may be in a position to help we would be extremely grateful.
